Free and Reduced Lunches Not too late to fill out an application Free and reduced lunches are available to all students. All one needs to do is fill out an application and hand it in to me. I will review it and determine if your income fits with in the parameters of the approval process. The state reimburses the cafeteria for every lunch bought. Free and reduced reimbursements are considerably more than a paid lunch. I am the only person who sees this paperwork. I am old and don't remember what I had for breakfast much less what someones income might be. I ask all families to help the cafeteria by filling out this form and finding out if your child/ren might be eligible for a free or reduced lunch. No monies come from the Parish or the school for this. It would be a fantastic way to help out the St. Mary's cafe. Thank you in advance for thinking about filling out this very important paperwork. An example would be a family of four with an income of 40,000 would be eligible for a reduced lunch at ..40. If you have any questions about the process please give me a call.
May's Lunch Update
This last week we had a lot of children coming to school late. I would appreciate it if you are calling to say your child is going to be late that you let Mrs. Patterson know if your child needs a lunch. We prepare enough food for the amount of children served for each lunch period. This is how we ensure that each lunch is freshest when served. Here is the breakdown for the remainder of the year. We have 8 serving days left with the 8th grade having 5 serving days for remainder of the year. This will make it easier for you to make a payment for lunches your children would like to eat. The pricing is: K-5 $2.60 and 6-8 $2.75. If there is money in your child's account at the end of the year it will be rolled over until next year.
I will be sending out lunch balances daily either by email or paper. I ask that you promptly send in your payments. I will be serving a limited lunch to every child that has a balance of negative 10 dollars or more starting on Tuesday May 14. These lunches will be pb sandwich , fruit or veggie and milk until the balance is paid in full or other arrangements have been made. As in any business, I must pay my bills in a timely matter as well. I thank you in advance for assistance in this manner. Miss Sue The menu for this week is as follows: Monday- 20th- Assorted pasta (lasagna roll or pasta), broccoli, fruit, cookie Tuesday-21st- Mini corn dog, baked beans, fruit Wednesday-22nd- Assorted pizza ( quesidilla, garlic cheese flatbread) salad, fruit Thursday-23rd- Breakfast day- sausage and cheese flatbread or french toast stix or waffles, hashbrown, fruit Friday-24th- Pizza hut cheese pizza, salad, applesauce Monday- May 27th- NO SCHOOL Tuesday-28th- Salisbury steak, mashed potato and gravy, peas, fruit No salads available for 6-8 this week Wednesday-29th- Chicken Galore- wing dings, chicken pretzels, fries, carrot stix, fruit Thursday-30th- Pizza hut cheese pizza, salad, fruit Friday- 31st- FIELD DAY- LUNCH PROVIDED BY SPO-hotdog, chips, fruit, milk

THE SNACK WINDOW WILL HAVE LIMITED SUPPLIES OF SNACKS FROM NOW UNTIL THE END OF SCHOOL The items are all bought on a cash only basis, the debit card system is only for lunch and milk. Examples of pricing is as follows: .35 cents Curious George gummies, .50 cents Cookies, water, Goldfish honey and oat cookies .75 cents Fruit by Foot, Gushers,Nachos w/ salsa, Little Debbie brownies(when we have them) These items may not be available all the time.

Miss Sue PAST DUE NOTICES
I will be sending out overdue notices daily. I ask that you try to keep current with your child's account. If there is a problem please let me know. I encourage everyone to communicate with me on your child's account. This is a debit system and it would be appreciated if you could send in money for your child's card before charging any lunch or milk. It is fine to use ONE CHECK for a family. Just write the exact amount to be distributed to each child in the memo section of the check. All payments should be handed in to their teachers in an envelope with the child's name and teachers name on it. This makes it easier when I pull the envelopes out of the classroom's folder. When I receive $10.00 for 3 children, it makes it more difficult to try and decide which children get the $3.00 and which one gets the $4.00. Your help in this area would make it easier to input deposits. STARTING IMMEDIATELY: There is an acceptable negative $10.00 account balance that once the child's account reaches that amount, they will receive an emergency lunch until the balance is paid in full or arrangements are made with me. I ask that you contact me before that time. I send out email notices, if you do not read your emails please let me know that you need a hard copy. Please remember it is never to late to fill out a Free and Reduced Lunch Application. Just print it from above or call me and I will send one home with your child. Usually it takes a couple of days and you will be notified if you are approved and the status of children will be modified to the appropriate plan of free or reduced.
