About St. Mary School
St. Mary is a private, parochial school located in Delaware, Ohio, just 12 miles north of the Franklin County line. St. Mary was founded in 1885 and occupied a small house adjacent to the church. The present school was built in 1925 and expanded in 1959 and in 2005. Currently we support 375 students in grades K through 8 and a preschool program that enrolls 65 students on average. With the addition in 2005, we are able to offer two classrooms in every grade level with the exception of grades 3 and 8 in the 2010-11 school year, which has one classroom. St. Mary offers a morning and afternoon Kindergarten class. Our goal is to maintain an average class size of 25 -30 students. The average class size at this time is approximately 25 students.
Our faculty consists of 15 classroom teachers, 4 full time aids, a librarian, a computer teacher, a physical education teacher, a reading teacher, an intervention specialist, a music teacher and a band teacher. We also have a part time nurse, an educational psychologist and a speech therapist one day a week.
A new program started in the 2009-10 school year is the school-aged child care (SACC) program. Children attending St. Mary K through 8 may participate in this after school care program.
