This past year our staff received multiple days of professional development focused on teaching strategies that are rooted in the Catholic Church’s understanding of the human person. These strategies will help unlock wonder in our students and allow them to wrestle with the process of learning. These tools will continue to help our students grow in recognizing how all of these subjects have God’s fingerprints on them and will prepare them to better navigate their world in order to achieve the ultimate goal, heaven.
With that, we would like to invite parents to a few immersive experience nights throughout the year. We are limiting these events to 20 participants (adults only) so we can mimic the teaching/learning environment as much as possible. Our focus this past year has been on styles of learning that are best suited for English. Over the next two years our staff will be studying the implementation of these tools in History, Math and Science. The first two nights will be August 1st (for 1st-4th Grade Parents) and August 8th (for 5th-8th Grade Parents). The event will take place in one of our classrooms and be from 6:00-7:30. Light Refreshments will be provided.
If you are not one of the first 20 to sign-up, don’t fret. We will have a couple more of these nights throughout the year. In addition we will have our Curriculum Night, August 27th, and our Open House, January 26th, as opportunities for you to come in and see St. Mary and what your child will be experiencing.
St. Mary School recruits and admits students of any race, color, or ethnic origin to all its rights, privileges, programs, and activities. In addition, the school will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, or ethnic origin the administration of its educational programs and athletic/extracurricular activities. Furthermore, the school is not intended to be an alternative to court or administrative agency ordered, or public school district initiated desegregation.
Inspired by our Mother Mary, and rooted in our Catholic faith, the St. Mary community nurtures spiritual growth, academic excellence, a responsibility to self, and service to others.
