Emmaus Road Scholarship

About the Emmaus Road Scholarship

The Office of Catholic Schools established the Emmaus Road Scholarship Fund to create much-needed scholarship dollars for the schools in our Catholic Diocese of Columbus. The state law passed in late 2021 effectively gives you the power to direct your tax dollars to support our schools’ efforts to lead children to an encounter with Jesus Christ. What’s more, you can earmark your gift for scholarships at St. Mary School!

Scholarships are prioritized for low-income students, designated as 300% of the federal poverty line; however, all students can benefit from this program, making an authentically Catholic education accessible and affordable for all who desire it.

In order to be considered for this scholarship, interested families must have a K-8 student and are required to apply for funding through FACTS Grant & Aid.

Award Distribution at St. Mary School

The FACTS Grant & Aid application is open from November 1 through March 15 and, upon verification of application information by FACTS, the calculation of scholarship awards will be determined during the month of April. St. Mary School is notified of Emmaus Road Scholarship Fund awards in May, similar to the longstanding process currently in place for diocesan tuition assistance.

How to Apply

Families wishing to be considered for a scholarship from the Emmaus Road Scholarship Fund should complete the FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment online.  The application opens on November 1 for the following academic year and the deadline to apply is March 15. In order to apply, you must have a FACTS account. If you are new student, please first submit an enrollment application.

Prior to applying for this scholarship, families should have readily accessible the following items:

  • All 2022 W2(s) and 2021 Federal tax return
  • All sources of income
  • A listing of assets, including bank balances and investments
  • A listing of household expenses, including monthly housing payments, car payments and other monthly expenses

On behalf of the diocese, FACTS will verify the applicant information provided, then use an internally-built program to determine award amounts based on each individual student’s tuition rates in comparison to their financial ability to pay. The goal of the calculation is to determine which families have the greatest financial need so that the diocese can allocate scholarships in a tiered and proportional method.

How to Give

Receive an Ohio tax credit by giving to the Emmaus Road Scholarship Fund and supporting families at St. Mary School in Delaware!

No gift is too large or too small and recurring payment options are available for those who wish to spread their donation over multiple payments throughout the calendar year. Remember, the state tax credit is limited to $750 for an individual taxpayer or $1,500 for married couples filing jointly, and the tax credit cannot exceed the Ohio tax owed.

To make your gift to the Emmaus Road Scholarship Fund, simply complete the form on the Diocese website or, if you prefer, mail a check payable to the “Emmaus Road Scholarship Fund” with the MEMO line “St. Mary’s Delaware” to:

Office of Catholic Schools
197 E. Gay Street
Columbus, OH 43215

**Note: Gifts may be directed to an individual school but NOT to an individual student or family.  All awards from the Emmaus Road Scholarship Fund are prioritized for low-income students; however, all families who apply may be eligible.
