While the students are away on Fall break our faculty will be hard at work experiencing Professional Development focused on educating your children for eternity. Please continue to pray for our school as we move forward with being intentional in making every subject Catholic and steeping them in the Catholic Worldview. All people ask the big questions:
It is these questions and the knowledge gleaned from them that makes Catholic Education distinct from its secular counterparts.
St. Mary Parish and School are on a journey together to rediscover the rich Tradition of our Catholic Faith. Education plays a pivotal role in the Church’s Mission. During the 1st quarter we will be unpacking different aspects of Catholic Education and why the Church is involved at all. To get us started please listen to the segment on The Purpose of Catholic Education from Bishop Barron. What does Bishop Barron say is the purpose of Education? How should Catholic Schools approach Science, Math, History and Literature? What does he suggest we do if we forget this purpose? The first 5 families who answer these questions (email me the responses) I will purchase a snack from the snack bar for their children. (Start Watching at 13:03).
In many ways, throughout history down to the present day, men have given expression to their quest for God in their religious beliefs and behavior: in their prayers, sacrifices, rituals, meditations, and so forth. These forms of religious expression, despite their ambiguities they often bring with them, are so universal that one may well call man a religious being. (CCC 28)
St. Mary School recruits and admits students of any race, color, or ethnic origin to all its rights, privileges, programs, and activities. In addition, the school will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, or ethnic origin the administration of its educational programs and athletic/extracurricular activities. Furthermore, the school is not intended to be an alternative to court or administrative agency ordered, or public school district initiated desegregation.
Inspired by our Mother Mary, and rooted in our Catholic faith, the St. Mary community nurtures spiritual growth, academic excellence, a responsibility to self, and service to others.
