I have the privilege of listening to the Good Shepherd alongside children ages 6-12. As a catechist, I prepare the religious environment called an atrium to make it like a child’s little retreat center. Then I offer short presentations about Scripture and liturgy. I ask wondering questions that help the child to think deeply and personally about the great truths of our faith. It is a delight to see children embracing their roles as missionary disciples and sheep of the Shepherd.
Favorite part about working at St. Mary’s: I find that the families are very faith-filled and this is reflected in the hunger the children have to grow in faith and transform the world. Everyone here is friendly!
Favorite devotion or prayer: I like to attend weekday Mass at my home parish. I make a holy hour there every Friday morning.
My family: I have been married to Andy for 33 years and we have 5 children, ages ranging from 30 to 19.
Hobbies: In my “spare time” I mostly work on Catechesis! I probably should develop some hobbies.
Confirmation Name: I chose the name Catherine as a way of affirming my baptismal identity. St. Catherine of Siena was a great leader, peacemaker and is a Doctor of the Church.
Prayer Intentions: Health and happiness for my family, and for all young people especially.
