My name at school is Ms. Gretchen. This is my second year at St. Mary and my eighth year working with preschool children. Prior to teaching preschool I raised my four children. Before children I was a Child Life Specialist at Shriners Burn Hospital where I helped patients cope with the changes inherent in devastating burns. I also aided their development and normalized their environment by helping them to play :)
I have a BS in Child and Family Development from The Ohio State university and an MA in Child Development/Child Life from The University of Akron. My oldest daughter is a fourth grade teacher, my second and third daughters are at The University of Cincinnati and my son is in the eighth grade. My husband recently retired as a lieutenant from the Columbus Fire Department.
After spending last year immersed in the Montessori curriculum, I spent the summer becoming certified in Montessori and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. Emily spent the summer equipping our new classrooms and I am looking forward to a wonderful Montessori and CGS experience with your children this school year.
