Nurse Sally Selmek

Sally Selmek BSN, RN grew up in Millbury, Ohio and attended St. Vincent School of Nursing in Toledo, Ohio. After graduating from nursing school, she worked on a Medical Surgical Unit for 5 years at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.

Her love for Cardiology lead to a position in The Coronary Intensive Care Unit. For ten years, she worked with patients that suffered heart attacks, heart failure and many other heart complications. During this time she chose to return to Lourdes University and earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.

She and her husband Mark were married for 7 years when they adopted a baby boy through Catholic Social Services of Toledo. They were the first couple to complete an “open” adoption through these services. After three years of waiting, they then adopted a baby girl in the same manner. Aaron is now 31 and Leah is 28. After being married for 38 years, Mark and Sally are expecting their first grandchild in February.

Sally has always loved children and babies. Her love for children is what interested her in becoming the school nurse at St. Mary School. She has been in this position for 17 years and enjoyed every minute (except during Covid 19). She has many wonderful, cute and touching experiences in the school throughout the years. She feels comfortable and loved by the St. Mary community. Her hopes are to be able to watch more students grow, develop and graduate from St. Mary School before retirement.

Sally likes to craft, sew, garden and spend time with her family. She is looking forward to being a grandmother!
